About the role

As our Area Sales Manager you develop maximum sales profitability and growth within the assigned regions. You manage existing customers through a relationship-based approach and secure new business/accounts through personal contact. 

Thanks to your extensive knowledge about our products, you know how to advise our customers so that they will get the best results too. You have a keen eye for developments in the market and you know what to do when you see opportunities. 

You work closely with our R&D colleagues, Product Managers and the Customer Service department to deliver the best results. 

Are you our perfect candidate?

Education & Experience
You have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably an agricultural training. A minimum of 10 years of experience in an international sales or business development position in the seed or vegetable industry (preferably with spinach, beans and carrots). Experience in collaborating with seed distributors and processing companies is preferred. 

Skills & Personality
You have strong communication, negotiating and analytical skills. You know how to influence customers and stakeholders actively to achieve your objectives and goals. It is also no problem for you to make the business work. Because you're taking initiative and responsibility, you don't need any close supervision. 

People may have other opinions and you listen to that, but you don't follow blindly.

Multitasking is something you're good at and you have no problem changing your course last minute if that's required for the company or market forces. You just love your job and reaching goals.  

Language and IT
You speak and write English and Spanish fluently, preferably Italian too. You know your way around with programs like Office365 and ABS and have experience in working with CRM.

Traveling
Around 50% of the time you'll be traveling. The company office is situated in Andijk.

A workweek as Area Sales Manager 
On Monday you start making your planning for the whole week, you are in close contact with our Customer Service department to check stock, orders and budget. When the clock turns 1 PM you grab your bag to go to the airport. You’re going to visit a distributor in Spain. 

The next day the distributor takes you to a trial field of spinach to see how it looks. After a couple of hours, you drive to a local seed dealer to get an impression of everything that’s going on there. After the tour you’re having dinner with them. 

When the alarm rings you wonder how the night could end so fast. It was a lovely diner with the dealer last night. After a good breakfast you call one of your clients in Italy to answer a question he had about an order. Everything is clear so let’s get in the car to visit some bean trial fields, together with the distributor. While you’re on the road you make a call with our legal department because you want to know more about a variety registration. 

Thursday already! You start checking budgets, orders and stocks with the distributor. Meanwhile you check our ERP system to see which variety we have too much, or too short. At 4 PM you ask him to give you a small tour through town, to end it with a nice drink. Cheers to this good work relation! 

When you’re in the airplane on Friday morning you start making your travelogue. When landed and on your way home you call your colleagues in the Netherlands to ask them if the new folder for the UK is already finished. When you hear your colleague from France is in the office you give her a call to have a nice chat and when the week ends, you have one last call with your manager to discuss the to do’s for next week. When you put your phone down you see your favorite chair awaits, time to chill and have a nice weekend!
